You were so screwed.
This would have never happened if you had taken your past roommate’s offer and split the rent of an entire house with her, but no. You just had to stay on campus, where the rent sucked and they only gave the illusion of free meals.
It was the first week of being on campus again and here you were, locked out of your bedroom by your new roommate who hadn’t quite gotten a hold of your schedule yet. At least you weren’t locked out of the entire dorm. You jiggled the door handle one more time before resigning yourself to your fate: naked and afraid.
Maybe not afraid, but defi

The car slowly rolled to a stop, and you looked up, eyeing Elizaveta carefully. She was smiling while looking out at the scene before you. The lake shimmered beautifully in the moonlight, the stars reflected wonderfully in the dark water. The trees swayed slightly, the wind light enough to keep you cool on the warm summer night. Elizaveta smiled over at you. "Ready to go?"
You bit your lip. "Why the park, of all places? And why at midnight?"
"Well, we met at this park, and I like nights around here. Now come on," she said, pushing open her own door and hopping out.
You sighed but obliged, opening the door and stepping out. Immediately, you

Hearing the phone ring, you leapt out of your bed and raced downstairs to your kitchen. Narrowly avoiding slamming face-first into the wall, you took the phone off of its home and placed it next to your ear.
"Hello?" You tried to keep yourself from yawning.
"Szia, (f/n)! Hogy vagy?1" The voice belonged to none other than Elizaveta, your closest friend.
You racked your brain for the basics of Hungarian that she had taught you a few years back. "Köszönöm, jól.2 What's up?"
"Oh, nothing much. But I really want to go ice skating today! Are you up for it?"
"Uhmmmm, sure! When do you want to go?"
"I want to be there by one o'clock. Meet you t

Your Mama, Hungary, looked sternly down at you. "It's past eight o'clock. You should be in bed by now."
You looked up at her sadly. "Mama, I wanna stay up late with you!"
Hungary sighed. "Sweetie, you know that you have a bed time. And you know that you need your sleep. You're like a little crab when you stay up too late!" she said, pinching your cheeks.
You wrinkled your nose. "But Mama, why can't I stay up late with you?"
"Maybe you can when you're older. But for now, you're going to have to be happy with staying up until eight."
"B-But I'm not tired!" you said, the beginning of your sentence slurred by a loud yawn.
Hungary laughed an

You trudged gloomily through the rapidly falling snow, towards the sleepy little café you frequently visited for a cup of hot chocolate. Of course it has to snow today. When a particularly violent gust of wind tore past you, you pulled your scarf tighter around your neck and quickened your pace. Just a few more meters to go, you thought, shivering slightly.
Opening the door, you raced in, moving sluggishly toward your usual table next to the window. Soft music played from a radio on the counter. The young Spanish man who owned the café looked up when you entered. His face brightened considerably when he saw you. "Hola, (f/n)! How a
